I snapped this pic today after I drank the Glowing Green Smoothie recipe from Kimberly Snyder’s book the Detox Beauty Solution and I must admit I felt and think I look like I am glowing.  And, it tastes awesome.   If you would like the full recipe, you’ll have to buy her book, too.   I’m realizing how important it is to also feed my body and cells living green food on a daily basis.  I’ve majorly improved my intake of fruit since writing the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book and drinking many of the incredible smoothie recipes in it, like the Detox Blast Smoothie and Green Protein Smoothie with spirulina.  But, now I realize how important it is to get living green food in my body daily.  The smoothie has fruits and veggies in it with apple, pear, banana, lemon, celery, spinach and romaine and it’s DELICIOUS.   Between the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book and Kimberly’s book you’ll have everything you need to have an optimal health and wellness program for your body, mind and spirit…

How is everyone feeling after the Thanksgiving holiday? I completely allowed myself to enjoy all of the wonderful foods last week.  I was with family for an entire week and it felt great to relax and go with the flow of food.  As I write  in the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book, I was a vegetarian for about 9 years.  A year ago, I began to notice my body was requiring meat.  It probably would have been best if I had allowed myself to eat meat moderately over those 9 years but I didn’t because I felt like it wasn’t healthy for me or it was unethical.  Now I realize it’s important for some of us, depending on our blood type especially, to give our bodies the nourishment they need and meat can be nourishing for body and soul.  Now I just listen to my body.  I no longer avoid meat but allow myself to go with the flow with that, as well.  However, most of the time I follow a mostly vegan lifestyle with very little amounts of dairy.  I do not believe in restriction.   All foods in moderation can be nourishing for your body, mind and soul.  The most important thing is to listen to your body.

I definitely felt like I needed to cleanse after the Thanksgiving holiday.  In the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book I suggest a 3 day cleanse after Thanksgiving and I found myself craving exactly that.  I couldn’t wait to get back to my regular routine of eating super healthy foods.  It felt so good to drink the Detox Blast Smoothie as soon as I got back home last Sunday.  Now, I’m also making the Glowing Green Smoothie so that’s even better and I feel so incredibly awesome and amazing from drinking that, as well.  It’s suggested to drink that smoothie daily for optimal health, well-being and beauty.  Yes, you will glow with inner and outer beauty when you feed your body the most healthy and nutritious fruits, veggies and foods on the planet.

I will eventually be posting videos of me preparing some of the recipes as I make them so you can see it’s very easy.  Sometimes the hardest part with getting started is just getting started.  There was a time when making a smoothie seemed a little overwhelming to me.  Now I realize it’s easy as vegan pumpkin pie.  OK, I will post that recipe here.  It’s in the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book, but, I’d love to share it with you for the holidays if you’re looking for a healthier treat for you and your family.  You can actually eat this pie for breakfast.  It has nothing unhealthy for you in it…only all good things!

I hope you enjoy it.  I will be back soon to share more with you.

Pumpkin Pie

Makes 6-8 servings

1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie puree)

1 cup rice milk

3/4 cup agave nectar

1/4 cup potato or cornstarch

1 tablespoon maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg or allspice

1 organic spelt, gluten free, or vegan pie crust from the freezer section

Heat the oven to 425 F.  Blend all the filling ingredients until smooth.  Taste it to make sure you like the flavor-you may want to add a little more maple syrup, for example.  Pour the mixture into the pie crust.  Bake for 10 minutes.  Then turn the oven down to 350 F, and continue to bake for 50 minutes.  Let the pie cool to room temperature, and put it in the refrigerator to chill overnight.  If fresh pumpkin is available, you can use it (you’ll need 1 3/4 cups).  For a creamier pie, use light or regular coconut milk instead of rice milk.

Bountiful blessings of love, peace, joy, health and well-being this holiday season and always.
