Hello Fresh Fruit Cleanse friends…
Let’s see…first of all…I returned from a fabulous trip to Mt. Hood in Oregon where I experienced all of the healing and rejuvenation I was hoping I would. I also enjoyed a few indulgences, too. I wrote about pleasure and moderation on the True Yoga Blog. You can check that out here. When I came back from my vacation I had gained a couple of pounds. It had been a long time since I had gained weight because I’ve been eating so healthily since writing the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book. It actually felt good to gain a few and really enjoy the pleasures of life again. I also knew that just a few days of Fresh Fruit Cleansing and some moderate exercise and I’d be able to lose the pounds no problem…which I did. It feels so great to have the Fresh Fruit Cleanse nutritional program that supports me in being healthy and well and feeling my best from day-to-day. When I came back I drank the much beloved and nutritionally beneficial Detox Blast Smoothie. I wrote about how much I love the Detox Blast Smoothie in the last post. It tastes awesome and is incredible for your health. I feel like I’m drinking sunshine when I drink it. Lemons are so awesome for you! So, I drank the Detox Blast Smoothie and ate the Fruit Day Spaghetti, which, is a recipe in the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book and is also delicious. Spaghetti squash is an excellent alternative to pasta. You can enjoy the taste of pasta without the weight gain or bloating that regular breads and starches often cause. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s still possible to enjoy indulgences in life, but, instead of eating pasta every week, perhaps, you’ll find you feel better when you eat it less often, like, once a month or so. I really don’t eat much bread either, but, occasionally I enjoy it when I’m out to dinner for a special evening or with a sandwich…
One of the things that also helped me to lose weight and feel better after my vacation was the Salt Water Flush. If you haven’t ever done a salt water flush it is highly effective and beneficial for your health and well-being. I write about the salt water flush in the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book. I had, actually, only done a salt water flush one time in my life before in 2009. It’s best to do it on an empty stomach because it can cause nausea. I didn’t follow my own directions this time (I did it shortly after eating) and did experience a little nausea, but, it certainly worked and I feel so cleansed and healthy from it. Salt water flushing is an ancient technique that is just as beneficial as colonics without the invasiveness. There is a belief that disease begins on the plate and is caused by a toxic colon. The salt water flush cleanses the entire digestive tract. It was first recommended to me by the well-known master Yoga teacher, Dharma Mittra. At 73, he is a radiant expression of health and incredibly flexible, even more so, than many advanced Yoga practitioners half his age. He looks beautiful. He eats a mostly raw, vegan diet about 80% of the time but says mozzarella is ok sometimes. 😉 That’s a man after my heart. God bless him. Yes, we’ve got to let ourselves live a little and enjoy the pleasures in life but not at the cost of our health. We are meant to be good stewards of this incredible gift of a body we have been given. Choosing to eat and be healthy is really the only way to feel and be our best in life. You can learn more about the benefits of salt water flushes here. Be sure not to overdo it, though. A couple of times a month at the most. Doing the salt water flush too often can deplete the intestines of healthy bacteria (flora). But, a salt water flush once in a while will have you feel amazing and cleansed. It also kills off parasites. The first sign of parasites, which, are usually caused by an unhealthy diet and excessive meat consumption, are diarrhea and bloating. I definitely had bloating after returning from my trip so I may have had a couple of parasites…I don’t like to admit it but most people do. A salt water flush will take care of those parasites and flush those nasty creatures out of your body so you can feel your best again. It’s also good to do the flush with a friend…it helps to have emotional support when you are going through feeling a little uncomfortable and it’s also good to have someone to laugh with…I did the flush with a friend this last time and it was actually a lot of fun…we laughed a lot. lol
Oh yea, great news! I was on Fox 4 Good Day this morning in Dallas and that was a blast. I’ve been on there several times over the past 5 years so I’ve gotten to know the people who work there and they are all awesome. In the past, I’ve always talked about Yoga and demonstrated Yoga poses. This was my first time to prepare food on live TV! I made the raw Chocolate Pudding from the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book. If you’ve tried it then you know it’s awesome. This time I jazzed it up a little more with some Coconut Milk. It made it extra creamy and delicious. I also topped it with raspberries and pistachios. Fresh mango would also be delicious or blueberries. You can even make a raw Cashew Cream to put on top. The recipe for Cashew Cream is also in the book. And, the last thing…the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book release party is this Saturday at Remedy Spa in Dallas! I am so excited to celebrate with all of my family and friends. One of my greatest mentors in life from WOUB-TV at Ohio University will also be there. My mentor and friend was the news director at the TV station, where I worked, and he was one of the greatest teachers in my life…he taught me to be strong and stand up for myself. He is now a professor in Oklahoma so he will be driving down for the party since he is so close to Dallas. I’m so grateful he’ll get to be here. We are so blessed in life to have all of the teachers who have crossed our paths…even the people we didn’t ‘like’ have been powerful teachers in our lives. They have taught us to grow stronger and be better when we’ve been willing to learn from everything we go through and everyone we’ve ever known in life. I’ll of course miss my father being here who passed away a couple of years ago. I write about his passing in the book, as well, and my journey of healing through that loss in my life. He was absolutely my greatest role model and example of what it means to be an exemplary human being on planet earth in the way he loved and treated others and lived life. But, I know he will be with me in spirit. Over the past couple of years God has given me the blessing of knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that my father is looking out for me and always here with me. I had one dream, in particular, that I won’t write about here but I can say convinced me that our loved ones are watching over us in this life and beyond.
Those of you who don’t live here and aren’t able to be here at the book release party this weekend… I know you will be with us in spirit as we celebrate the blessing of life, God’s grace and love, health, and positive community that lifts us up and strengthens us to grow well each day.
