Hello Fresh Fruit Cleansers…
As you may or may not know there’s been a lot going on…
But, the news is I gave birth to my first child just 4 weeks ago… what an awesome (not necessarily easy) journey it’s been over the last 9 months and the last 4 weeks with this new life being in the world and in my world. I love him so much… what an amazing experience to know he was growing inside of me and now he is here. And, God did knit him together so perfectly. Perfection is not aesthetic… it’s energetic. God knitted him together perfectly for His plan for his life. That’s what I know. And, I am grateful I get to be a witness to his journey and to love him with all my heart and soul so that he can be the best he can be.
Speaking of all that, he’s stirring in his crib a little as I write this… never a dry moment with a newborn that’s for sure. Hoping he’ll go down for a nap… thinking he will… at least for now 😉
So, what did I want to write about on the Fresh Fruit Cleanse blog? Well, the first thing is that if the posts are a bit sporadic for the next couple of months as my life is getting adjusted to this new life, now you’ll understand why. I do intend to be updating the Fresh Fruit Cleanse blog more frequently once baby boy is sleeping a little more regularly, at least at night. He’s doing great… but… rest is an important part of feeling good, I’m realizing, and, for having the energy to do what needs to be done in life…
I’m feeling good today because I actually got to sleep 6 hours last night. That was 6 solid hours of sleep… the first 6 hours of sleep I’ve had in months… probably since month 2 or 3 of pregnancy because, as many mothers know, frequent bathroom trips are a common part of pregnancy. So, getting up at all hours of the night was something I had been doing pretty much this entire last year. Some nights I would have to get up at least 10 times… not complaining… but somehow most first time mothers-to-be aren’t fully aware of all of the pregnancy symptoms before getting pregnant… it’s sort of a learn as you go experience. You can hear about it from friends but it doesn’t become real until you live it. But, there’s also something incredibly rewarding about sacrificing oneself and one’s comforts for such a long period of time to be able to give birth to a new life. Somehow, a strength sees you through… well… God’s strength sees you through in the uncomfortable moments. As a mother said to me recently, giving birth has you realize your strength… the God given strength inside of each of us. It certainly is a powerful experience.
The other thing I wanted to mention is how grateful I am to have written the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book and to have been able to draw on all of that information throughout my pregnancy and now postpartum. I only have a few more pounds to lose to be back at my original weight. And, that’s without having done any cardio at all. I would go to the gym if I could, but, there just hasn’t been the time yet. As a good friend of mine said… just relax and enjoy this time, Leanne. You’ll have plenty of time to go to the gym at some point in your life again. So true. Although I have been able to practice Yoga regularly each day over the last 3 weeks. And, that has been incredible. Most days I only practice for about 15 minutes but a simple, yet effective, Yoga practice can re-balance body, mind and soul and have you feel great. I’ve slowly integrated more and more core exercises into my practice and, no doubt, the breath is one of the greatest energizers and fat burners there is. Deep diaphragmatic breathing is incredible for one’s metabolism. Actually, there is a story about a woman that I read in a book called, It’s Here Now Are You? by Bhagavan Das. The technique is not recommended for weight loss, but, he talks about a woman in the book who lost weight simply through a breathing technique.
Let’s see… what else. Also, I am expanding my efforts in sharing the Fresh Fruit Cleanse with more and more people. It had been my plan to promote the book more and more this year, but, with a baby on the way that plan got temporarily put on hold some. Now that I’m feeling ready again, I’m being filled with so many wonderful ideas about how to bring the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book to more people, because, I believe, from my own experience of living the Fresh Fruit Cleanse lifestyle, and, from the emails I read from readers like yourselves, that the book and nutritional plan really can be a positive experience for your life.
If I wasn’t breastfeeding right now, I would be following more of the recipes from the book than I am. I love those recipes they are delicious. I was thinking this morning that there really isn’t a better way to lose weight AND feel great than with the Fresh Fruit Cleanse. The reason is you get to EAT… AND… lose weight. And, the recipes taste so good. As many of you know, Spaghetti Squash is an awesome food, packed with incredible nutrition, for giving you a filling fiber-filled dish. There are so many ways you can prepare Spaghetti Squash… the possibilities are endless. As you also know, if you have read the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book, there are lots of great Spaghetti Squash recipes in the book. One of my favorites is the recipe with marinara sauce on it. I was craving that today, as well as, the RAW delicious, nutritious Chocolate Pudding recipe. YUM!
Another vision I’ve hoped to bring to Light is personal coaching for Fresh Fruit cleansers.
As one of my friends says:
FITNESS + NUTRITION + ACCOUNTABILITY + SUPPORT = SUCCESS
Also SO TRUE… thank you, Joshua, for that.
So, we will be bringing you coaching in the years to come. You will be able to have a personal coach, either myself or someone else, to support you in realizing your life goals and dreams. Anything is possible and as I write about in the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book… when your health improves, everything in your life improves, as well. That means, not only your body, but your relationships with yourself AND with everything and everyone else. How AWESOME is that!
I’d like to share the Fruit Day Spaghetti recipe with you. Oh, the reason fruit is the most effective food for losing weight is because it’s the most water-rich food on the planet. Starving oneself to lose weight is NOT the way to go. It’s about eating nutritiously and deliciously to feel and look your best. If you follow the recipes in the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book… you WILL lose weight… And, what’s great about all the recipes is they aren’t just for during a cleanse… they are for your day-to-day life. You can eat them anytime and you will feel great. I’m looking forward to enjoying more of them now that I’m feeling better and better post pregnancy, and, to discovering more wonderful recipes along the way. If you ever have any you would like to share, whether they are all-fruit recipes or any other nutritious and delicious dish, please share them with us.
Fruit Day Spaghetti
Makes 4 servings
- 1 large spaghetti squash, halve lengthwise and seeded
- 2 (16-ounce) cans plum tomatoes, crushed or diced
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato paste
- 3-4 tablespoons Italian seasoning or basil, oregano, and rosemary
- salt and pepper, to taste
- diced red or green bell pepper (optional)
- grated yellow summer squash (optional)
- sauteed eggplant (optional)
Heat oven to 350 F. Place the squash cut side down in a baking dish with 1/2 to 1 inch of water in the bottom of the dish. Bake for about 45 minutes, until the skin is dry and crackly and the flesh soft. Scraped with the tines of a fork, the flesh will easily come out in long spaghetti-like strands. While the squash is baking, place the remaining ingredients in a saucepan, and warm over low heat. If you like, add diced red or green pepper, grated yellow squash, or eggplant to give the sauce more body. Simmer, stirring frequently while the squash cooks. Place strands of spaghetti squash on a plate and spoon the sauce on top. If you are eating a little dairy, you can top with a (moderate) amount of parmesan cheese. Bon apetit 🙂
I will be back soon to write more. In the meantime, it’s important we all get enough rest to feel our best whether you are a new mom or not. Balance is the key to a healthy life. And, moderation in all things. I don’t believe there is only one way that works. I believe we must find a healthy balance and moderation. That means, if your body needs a little dairy, from time-to-time, it’s important to give yourself that. Or, if you need the protein in meat, then it’s important to listen to your body about that, too. Most of us have many generations of meat-eating DNA in us so it’s difficult to just cut it all out all at once. I was vegetarian for almost 9 years, but, there were times where I craved certain meat foods. Now, I give myself what my body needs… in moderation. And, I feel better now than I ever did during those 9 years. Your body knows best, so, listen to it. It’s talking to us all the time and letting us know what it wants and needs, and, the truth is that is usually healthy foods. Maybe only once-in-a-while do our bodies want those indulgent and decadent foods. Our bodies want to feel light and energized… that is when they are happiest and when we are happiest. Eat to live… not… live to eat.
OK, time to go get the baby boy…
Blessings to all
Oh, this pic is my mother and I. That was just taken the other night. Not so bad for only 4 weeks post pregnancy… me… not my mom 😉 But, doesn’t she look great. I won’t say what her age is… but you would probably guess she is younger than she really is. I didn’t tell her this, but, if you are the first person to guess her age correctly, I’ll send you a FREE copy of the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book. Shhh… it’s ok for me to let one person know… right? Also, she is a testament to healthy living and eating and an inspiration to me.
