Hello again friends…

As I’m sitting here writing I’m drinking the infamous Detox Blast Smoothie from the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book…I love that smoothie so much. Just yesterday, it dawned on me to add ginger to it. About a month ago I met a beautiful African American couple who I think were in their early 50s…although I didn’t ask and they didn’t tell me. They looked so young so I asked the handsome gentleman, who is also a holistic doctor, what his secret is. He said ginger! I’ve always loved ginger and when I was juicing regularly I would often add it to my juice. But, since drinking smoothies I hadn’t added it to any smoothie I drink.

So, I added ginger to the Detox Blast Smoothie yesterday and it tastes awesome. From anti-cancer benefits, to alleviating pain and helping with migraines, ginger is one of the most medicinal foods in the world. You can learn more about its powerful benefits here

Also, I used to never eat bananas with brown spots on them. But, they still taste good once they’ve gotten really ripe and, it turns out, that’s when they are the most beneficial for you. While I was writing the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book I learned that when it comes to eating fruit, the riper the better…

…according to Japanese Scientific Research, a full ripe banana with dark patches on yellow skin produces a substance called TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) which has the ability to combat abnormal cells. The more darker patches it has… the higher will be its immunity enhancement quality; Hence, the riper the banana the better the anti-cancer quality.
Yellow skin banana with dark spots on it is 8x more effective in enhancing the property of white blood cells than green skin version. Eating 1-2 banana/s a day increases immunity.

So eat those ripe bananas or any fruit that is slightly softer to the touch…you’ll get the most benefits for your health! Also, as many of you know, who have read the Fresh Fruit Cleanse, I write about the importance of maintaining a balanced PH. Basically, optimal PH is between 6 and 7 on the PH scale. PH below 6 is heavily acidic and above 7 is too alkaline. Most people are too acidic because of the acidic diet and lifestyle many people live. I talk more about the importance of a healthy PH in the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book, but, you can also learn more here. There’s also a wonderful list of alkalizing foods in the book which include fruits, vegetables and raw nuts. Here’s a little more info on PH and an awesome chart that makes it easy to see which foods are best for balancing your PH.

Over 80 years ago, in 1931, Otto Warburg was awarded the Nobel prize for his discovery that cancer is caused by weakened cell respiration due to lack of oxygen at the cellular level. Damaged cell respiration causes fermentation (otherwise known as death, or the deterioration of something that was once living). Fermentation results in acidity/the promotion of an acidic environment; therefore in order to counteract and even completely reverse cancer, we must ALKALIZE our bodies.

That’s it. Piece of cake. All it involves is proper care and maintenance of our bodies.

So how do we alkalize?
By oxygenating! 🙂

This can be done via yoga/deep breathing/meditation, exercising, eating foods that are alkalizing or oxygenating (both words are pretty much synonymous). Even thinking happy, positive thoughts has been shown to alleviate stress, and thereby reduce the amount of cellular fermentation. – Jasmine Therese Esguerra

Speaking of emotional health, I love this chart, too. I briefly talk about chakras or the energy centers of the body in the book, but, it’s very helpful to have an understanding of the 7 main chakras and how they affect our emotional health and well-being. The intention of any healthy lifestyle and mind, body, heart healing practice, like Yoga, is to bring about emotional healing in the chakras so that you can truly love yourself and others in the best and healthiest way possible. There’s much more I could say about this, but, did you know the chakras are the colors of the rainbow? Chakra means spinning wheel of light and, starting at the pelvis floor, they ascend upward in number and color from red at the perineum, to orange at the sexual reproductive organs, to yellow at the solar plexus, green at the heart center, blue at the throat, indigo at the third eye or center of intuition (also known as the spiritual eye) and violet at the crown of the head or 1000 petaled lotus. The chart on the left talks about all of the emotional connections to the chakras and how we can realize healing through an awareness of the chakras or energy centers of our bodies and souls. And, the picture on the right shows where these energetic centers are in the body, and, their corresponding colors of the rainbow. Here is a little more info on a website that you can read, as well, about the chakras. Yoga has helped me, tremendously, to realize healing in these energy centers so I can feel and know love and God’s love moving through my body, mind and soul…
