Hello Fresh Fruit Cleanse friends…

It’s been a long time since I last wrote. Blessings of Spring to you. 🙂

Life has been very busy. As many of you know, I continue to update the True Yoga Blog regularly with information and inspiration about Yoga, health and wellness. You can read the most recent post here.

It is my wish to also continue to write on the Fresh Fruit Cleanse blog, as well, with recipes, tips and inspiration for a healthy body, mind and spirit.

I’m so grateful so many of you are finding the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book to be beneficial to your health and life. I received this wonderful testimonial, recently, from Maria and I’d like to share it with you here. If you haven’t started the Fresh Fruit Cleanse, yet, I hope this inspires you to realize…you can do it! What’s so great about the book is it makes cleansing easy with so many delicious recipes. You get to EAT while you cleanse to feel great and look great from the inside out…

I just had to comment on your wonderful book “The Fresh Fruit Cleanse” I am 52 years old and have been on and off the “beam” my whole life, I actually began learning about health/diet/yoga in college in 1982, and I also battled the on/off smoker/alcohol as well. You have inspired me immensely with this book, I purchased it on Fat Tuesday, Feb 21, 12 and I was ready for the Lent cleanse, but more serious than ever, in fact my x-husband and I share placement with our 11-year-old daughter, and when he asked me to Cleanse for 40 days with our daughter, I was more than ready, So I bought the book, bought all what I needed to get started, tried some of the recipes and I love them and still anxious to try more, And I am Proud to say we are all going strong, in fact I am ready for a life change and I can honestly say this not a Sacrifice by no means. I understand that now!!

Thank You Leanne! Got to meditate now:)
-Maria

I just wanted to add that when I bought book I was enthusiastic about all the recipes, I did not go hungry at all, both my husband and our 11-year-old daughter learned how to eat in order to live a healthier diet. We started the cleanse on Feb 22, Ash Wednesday, and were still going strong, It started out as a lenten thing, but i feel so great I am ready for a life change, and I agree when one is ready to give up conventional foods, it is not a sacrifice at all. I love the book, I am going to share it with everyone i know. 🙂

So, speaking of recipes I have an excellent one to share. A friend and coworker of mine recently shared this recipe for VEGAN mac and cheese with me and it’s fabulous. I was a little skeptical, at first, understandably, but, you will be amazed. This sauce is good on pasta, potatoes, veggies, or anything else you feel inspired to try. I like to eat gluten free pasta. One of my favorite brands that I mention in the Fresh Fruit Cleanse book is Tinkyada Organic Brown Rice Spirals. I always feel better when I eat gluten free pasta because it feels like my body is able to digest it more easily and it doesn’t cause me to gain weight.

Also, something else the recipe calls for is Nutritional Yeast. Do you know about Nutritional Yeast? I had forgotten all about it until my friend gave me this recipe. I bought a jar of it a couple of years ago and only used it once or twice. That was before I had written the book and expanded my knowledge of health and nutrition. Well, nutritional yeast is incredible for you. You can read more about it here, but, a few of its nutritious benefits include:

  • Loaded with vitamins and minerals including B vitamins great for red blood cell production
  • 14 grams of protein in 1 ounce
  • High in fiber which helps to eliminate constipation, lower cholesterol, reduce colon disease risk, protect against high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes
  • Low in sodium

Ok, so here is the recipe. Give it a try, I think you’ll love it.

YUM YUM Vegan Cheese Sauce

  • 3/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • 2 T olive oil
  • 2 T flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt or braggs liquid aminos
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 1/2 cup vegan milk (unsweetened almond milk)

Instructions:

  • Add any desired spices to fit your mood like cayenne or bbq spice for a twist
  • For a more smokey cheese sauce substitute lapson tea for some of the milk
  • Cook all ingredients over medium heat in a sautee pan. Stir and cook until thickness desired is reached. (sauce will thicken as it cools) Pour over pasta, potatoes, rice, veggies. Enjoy!

I will be back soon to share more. Blessings to your vibrant and radiant health!
